CNESSTÂ COMPENSATIONÂ PROCEDURESÂ
In case of an accident or a work-related injury , according to the law, you have several compensations and claims that allow you to recover from your injuries, regain your functional abilities and facilitate your return to work or to an equivalent job. In this article we will talk about the CNESST compensation procedures.
When an accident happens, the employer has to provide first aid to the injured employee and, if necessary, to transfer him to a hospital center. The physician in charge of a worker decides the type of care required according to his condition. The physician may also prescribe care, treatments and technical aids to the work-related injured worker. Depending on the inability to work period, the employer or CNESST will continue to guarantee the employee’s salary. In addition, medical care is provided.
The worker must present the doctor’s prescription in order to open a file at CNESST and receive care and services in a rehabilitation clinic. CNESST must be immediately informed of the incident in order to initiate medical care and compensation procedures.
When an accident occurs, you must complete the Worker’s Claim in order to open your file at CNESST as well as in a rehabilitation clinic (when prescribed by the doctor).
MEDICAL EXAMS
Each worker is free to be treated and under the care of a doctor of his choice. However, in some cases, the employer may indicate a physician who will have access to the employee’s medical record. The employer may also require the worker to be assessed by the company’s physician. Some doctors and clinics, such as Forcephysio, are bound by direct agreements with CNESST and their costs are directly covered.
